If you have access to video or audio taping equipment, try recording your rehearsals. Then, carefully review these recordings in search of areas in which improvements might be made. Be forewarned: The first time you watch yourself making a speech on TV can be very painful. But it’s worth it, because it provides opportunities to note and eliminate such distracting habits as swaying, speaking too softly or too rapidly, and the use of “um” and “er.”
